Dear Parents and Families,
You may be aware that many Arizona teachers and school staff members have been participating in statewide efforts to increase awareness for teacher salaries and additional public education funding.
Many Children First Leadership Academy teachers and staff have lent their voices to this cause, and we respect their right to such efforts. As of April 19th, a majority of Arizona teachers voted in favor of holding a walkout starting on Thursday, April 26th to bring awareness to the issues.
After meeting with the staff, many have chosen to participate in the walkout. However, Children First Leadership Academy has decided that we will remain open on Thursday, April 26th. There are many things to consider when preparing for a large number of our staff not being in school on Thursday, as well as possibly beyond that. Please know, there is no way we can make an effective instructional day possible without our incredible staff. Our wish is to keep school open and to support our hourly staff, our students, and families. Instruction, if any, will be limited.
Our efforts to keep Children First Leadership Academy open will serve as a safe place for our students to be for the day with structured activities. Breakfast and lunch will be served. We recognize that some parents may want to support our staff in their decision or would prefer to have their children home. All parents have the option to call their child(ren) out for the day(s) and this absence will not be counted against their attendance rate.
If the decision to close school occurs, we will communicate as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 602-712-0500.
