At this event, you can make school shopping easier for those in need. Donate a backpack filled with school supplies and get a Limited Edition Batman 75th Anniversary cape. The backpacks will be given to Children First Academy, a school of homeless and impoverished kids. Find out which supplies are needed at cfaphoenix.org/donate. Arizona's coolest summer fun run! Literally. Participants will be cooled along the way by our "Splashers" - who will use Super Soakers and water balloons to reduce the impact of our Arizona summer swelter! Each participant will also bring 2 items of non-perishable healthy snacks to Children First Academy, a local non-profit school dedicated to helping homeless children. All proceeds and donations will go to the school.  more

More than 1,500 mayors across the country paid tribute to volunteers on Tuesday during the Mayor's Day of Recognition for National Service. In Phoenix, Vice Mayor Jim Waring read a proclamation honoring some 1,300 volunteers in the Phoenix area. He did it in front of 50 volunteers from the groups Americore and Seniorcore at the Children First Academy in south Phoenix. "Thank you for the service," Waring said. "Obviously, the city is in budget straits right now, and so we need some volunteers to step up and fill in some need."  more

For the last year, some Arizona State University students from the Barrett Honors College have been putting some unique, one-of-a-kind soles on the feet of some needy children in Tempe. "There was everything from dinosaurs to The Avengers to flowers to just patterns. It was great," said Ashley Archambault, the 20-year-old founder of the Beautiful Soles project.  more

The 300 children who go to Children First Academy in Phoenix are all in families at or below the poverty line, and most of them are homeless. Yet, a special project called Kids in Focus is underway at the academy that is aimed at helping students. Valley photographers volunteer their time to work with 20 students on their skills.  more

On August 8th at 8:30am, Assistance League® of Phoenix's new Operation School Bell® Delivering Dreams Bus will roll-up to CFA’s campus located at 1648 South 16th Street in Phoneix. The 40 ft. city bus has been retrofitted into a mobile dressing center, complete with a waiting area, dressing rooms, racks for clothing and shoes, shoe fitting area and a sewing station, will enable 330 current CFA students to pick out new clothes and school supplies with an estimated retail value of $400 per child.  more

We have 4 DAYS to move in and set up the ENTIRE school. We will be in the school from 9am-3pm everyday of the 15th-18th and are looking for help moving and setting up furniture, helping teachers set up their classrooms, organizing our food & clothing room, and other setting up tasks. ALL volunteers are welcome, whether they can come all week, an entire day, and or just a few hours. We need all the help we can get to have our school ready for our ribbon cutting on the 19th and the students on August 5th. We hope to see you next week at our new campus, and 1648 S 16th St, Phoenix AZ 85034.  more

On Friday, July 19th at 9:30am, Children First Academy (CFA) will host the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for a newly-renovated 52,000 sq ft. state of the art campus. The new campus will serve up to 750 students, Kindergarten through 9th grade, adding a grade level each year.  more
