Principal’s Letter

Principal Karen CrangDear Families,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am overly excited to be the principal here at Children First Academy this year. I’ve had the privilege of working here at Children First Academy the past two years and I am thrilled to continue this journey with you and your students. I want to begin my thanking you for everything that you do for your children and ensuring they have a successful school year.

To give you some background about myself. I moved to Arizona 11 years ago and began my teaching journey. I have a wonderful husband and two amazing children, Natalie (4) and Jaxon (10 months). I grew up in Lakewood, NY and went to college at Fredonia State University where I received my BA in early childhood education. Then I continued my education at Northcentral University where I received my master’s in instructional leadership.

Our vision and mission here at Children First Academy is to Develop Leaders One Student at a Time. We provide a safe, friendly, and happy learning environment where each student consistently takes ownership for:

  1. Their ability to achieve success, despite factors outside of their control, in order to graduate and capitalize on post-secondary academic and career opportunities
  2. Their destiny (knowing where they are, where they can go and believing they WILL get there)
  3. Their role in creating an environment of success by showing respect for themselves, fellow students, staff, and facilities
  4. Their role in establishing a culture of high behavioral and academic expectations through applying the 7 habits

My goal as principal is to be available to all students, parents and teachers. I believe in getting into every classroom daily and being visible to all students and parents.

With the new school year there is one large change with the school day schedule. As many of you know our half-days are on Wednesday’s; they will now be ending at 12:30pm.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Sincerely,
Karen Crang
